These social recce runs of the East Devon Round route will be led by experienced members of the Ruby Red Running team.

Each run will cover a different section of the course including the new East Devon Round Quarter route - our 25km option, ideal for those starting out on their ultra marathon journey.

They are free to join if you have already entered one of our East Devon Round 2026 distances. If you have not yet entered the 2026 race, we will ask for £3 payable on the day. In either case, just use the buttons above to sign up!

We often get asked, how long each recce run will take. The simple answer is...it depends,  factors such as weather, ground conditions and the wonderful people who join these runs all impact the speed we will go on the day. Our priority is to build your knowledge of the route in a social & relaxed way, we wont leave anyone behind.

Recce Run 1 - 11th January 2026

• 18km 425m climb
• Blackbury Camp to Honiton
• Meet @ 8.30am at Blackbury Camp

Recce Run 2 - 22nd February 2026

• 23km 600m climb
• Blackpool Corner to Musbury via Lyme Regis
• Meet @ 8.30am at Musbury village hall

Recce Run 3 - 22nd March 2026 - incorporating part of our Quarter Round route - new for 2026!

• 20km 575m climb
• Combe Raleigh loop
• Meet at Combe Raleigh village hall at 8.30am

Recce Run 4 - 4th April 2026

• 23km 635m climb
• Honiton to Axminster (return by train)
• Meet at Honiton railway station (time to be confirmed depending on trains)

In the run up to each recce run, we will create a whatsapp group for those who have registered to organise lift shares and exact meeting locations.

Each run will cover a different section of the East Devon Round route - more info will be posted nearer the time as to which run covers which section, but all the recce runs will be based near Honiton or Axminster for easy train links.

We will use whatsapp groups to arrange meeting points and transport sharing.

The event is perfect for anyone entered into the East Devon Round, however it is not essential that you are running the East Devon Round to join.

With 3 qualified guides who have good knowledge of the area, we will be able to tailor the group according to ability during each run.

These social recce runs are open to anyone aged 18 years or older.
