‘Ultra experience at its best’
'Coming along on Friday night was like meeting up with old friends. Then having a delicious feed and a beer was spot on. The route was beautiful, brilliantly marked and a real challenge. The aid stations were so well stocked and super friendly. Then receiving a medal, t-shirt, bottle of beer and more food was a perfect end.'
'You have a really special race, and I feel privileged to be able to take part in it. We are already planning on heading down next year.'
'As a local it was so nice to run such a stunning (but tough!) route that highlights the natural beauty of East Devon. The ethos of the event as a ‘ultra running social’ and charity fundraiser rather than commercial enterprise is also refreshing
Oh @eastdevonround, you, your countryside and wonderful people have stolen my heart. Alasdair, Tim and Esme have created a wonderful event with such a great ethos, profits going to charities, caring for the trails and paths, providing a full weekend of fun for me and my family with camping, food, cheer and amazing prizes!'
'Thank you so much to the team for the organisation and getting me round! I'm on my second day of avoiding stairs and contemplating buying a bungalow!'

Dont let the bluebells and spring flowers lull you into thinking the East Devon Round will be a walk in the park.
The full East Devon Round is a serious challenge for even the best Ultra Runners, whilst we do not set minimum entry standards it is expected that entrants on the full round will already have completed trail events that are over 50km and are comfortable with self navigation.
The Half Round is still an Ultra Marathon with good level of climb, with plenty of aid stations, beautiful scenery and well marked routes this is an ideal route for those new to ultra distances, still with enough bite though to challenge more experienced runners looking to 'race' the distance.
The quarter round was introduced as a stepping stone for those looking to get in to Ultra running. For those who have run the AVR Grizzly in March or have run other 10km+ trail runs, this is the 'perfect' next step up in your trail running journey.
The routes will be marked, but runners will be expected to have the ability to self-navigate (gpx route on watch or similar).

Cut-Off Times
We try to make the EDR as inclusive as possible for all, this includes our fabulous volunteers who help at checkpoints, giving up their time to make the EDR so enjoyable. For this reason we will have cut offs in place for each checkpoint so that we can provide clarity for the volunteers giving up their time to make the event possible. Cut offs will always be very generous when compared to comparable events.
To complete the Full Round within time limits works out at about 3 miles per hour. Transport is provided back from checkpoints if needed. Transport is provided from the finish of the Half back to the event HQ.
Cut off times by aid station
Cut off times may be adjusted in the run up to the event, but as a guide these were the timings for 2025:

Note that cut off times for the aid stations form Dalwood to Blackbury Camp are based on past times for EDR Half runners. EDR Full runners should be through Blackbury Camp within 11 hours if they are likely to meet the cut off in Sidbury.
We encourage spectators and are also happy to have support runners join you for part of your race. We are able to offer meal tickets to spectators and are happy to guide them as to where to see you on the course.
External food and nutrition support is permitted on all courses. For the Full East Devon Round only, a support runner is permitted from the Weston aid station. The support runner must carry full mandatory kit.
Spectators and crew are welcome to camp (£10 per tent) and can also purchase weekend meal tickets (£25). Please book these when you enter the event. They are both payable on the day at Race HQ.
If you are running the Full or either Half routes, your friends and family will be able to track you via Geo Tracks live tracking (see section below on Live Tracking). You can share the link via social media or whatsapp by using the buttons on the right hand side.
GPX files will be uploaded here shortly.
Please note that if you are planning on recce running the route from previous years, small adjustments might be made for 2026. In addition, some sections of the course run over private land and we only have permission to use these routes on race day or on our pre-organised recce runs. You are very welcome to join us on our organised recce runs which are free of charge if you have already entered any of the EDR courses.
LIVE TRACKING:
All runners on the Full, Half and Other Half routes will be issued with a GPS trackers which will enable 'live tracking' that you can use for navigation and share with friends, family and support crews. More details and links will be updated nearer to the event.
Runners on the Qtr route will not be issued with trackers, we have however arranged that the Qtr map will be available through Geotracks free of charge. Any Qtr runner, without a GPS device, who is concerned about navigation can download the GeoTracks App (£3.99) (Android link / Apple Link), this will enable you to 'live track' yourself through the app, giving your precise location vs the course map. Having the Geotracks app is not compulsory.
All our courses are fully marked, but you are required to have back up navigation in either the form of a GPS enabled device (watch/phone) or paper map.
